Bio Written by Louis' foster mom: I need help finding Louis the perfect home. Louis was rescued when he was about 10 months old. He was kept on a chain that was tied to a fence, he went for periods without any food or water. One afternoon Louis managed to pull loose from the fence and wandered into the street. He was hit by a car and his owner's, not surprisingly, merely put him back on his leash, on the fence. As it turned out, when he was struck by the car, it rendered him totally blind. I took Louis in last June and though I had a home lined up for him, but the prospective owner had some medical issues that prevented them from adopting Louis. He has been in my home for the past year and is a wonderful dog. He is, like most rescues, very loyal and loving, but keeping in mind his handicap, he naturally has some issues. I have several cats and a Chihuahua, the cats have swatted Louis and the Chihuahua has snapped at him a couple of times. This has caused Louis to be defensive and aggressive when he is around them, simply trying to protect himself. I have a lab mix the size of Louis and another rescue a little bigger and they all get along fine. He is protective of the back yard and I have had two neighborhood kids try to pet him over the fence and he has snapped at them. Thanks to Ruff Love Rescue, Louis is up to date on all of his shots and is in good health. Keeping all this in mind, Louis would be a fantastic dog for someone that has a medium to large dog, with no kids and no small children.
